WISYS is the optimal tool for GIS-based recording, management, use and publication of all relevant information for river-basin as well as for public relations. The WISYS water information system is intended for authorities and working parties responsible for water and also for authorities implementing the EU Water Framework Directive.
Typical applications of WISYS include:
- Data management for water bodies and work programmes in relation to the Water Framework Directive
- Data quality control
- Exchange of information between administrators and stakeholders
- Direct support to the work processes and reporting required by the WFD
The WISYS object model has been developed and optimised over a number of years and fully implements the WFD “Water Bodies Horizontal Guidance Document”. Furthermore, it relates to “Guidance Document on Implementing the GIS Elements of the WFD”.
