To help reduce registration costs and animal testing in connection with the EU requirements a consortium has been formed (MMVF-SIEF). DHI leads the consortium created for the EU REACH registration of a substance: Man-made vitreous (silicate) fibres with random orientation with alkaline oxide and alkali earth oxide (Na2O+K2O+CaO+MgO+BaO) content greater than 18% by weight and fulfilling one of the nota Q conditions. The Consortium has 17 member companies, who have formed a Substance Information Exchange Forum (SIEF) to register this substance together and minimize the registration cost and animal testing. During the SIEF formation process DHI has acted as SIEF Formation Facilitator; and is currently managing all technical and administrative matters in connection to this SIEF and the REACH registration of the substance.
